The Giong Festival is celebrated every year in Phu Linh Commune, Soc Son District, Ha Noi. This festival commemorates the hero, Saint Giong. He is considered a mythical hero because he grew from a three-year-old child into a giant overnight. He is worshipped for defending the country from foreign invaders - the An.
Although this festival is held from the 6th to the 12th day of the 4th Lunar month, people start preparing traditional clothing for the procession and for various festival performances one month beforehand. During the festival, the procession starts at the Mother Temple and goes to Thuong Temple where a religious ceremony is performed. When night falls, a cheo play is performed. Then the festivities end with a thanksgiving procession on the 12th.
This festival shows our love for the motherland and the preservation of our cultural heritage.

Lễ hội Gióng được tổ chức hàng năm tại xã Phú Linh, Huyện Sóc Sơn, Hà Nội. Lễ hội này kỷ niệm người anh hùng, Thánh Gióng. Ông được coi là một anh hùng huyền thoại vì chỉ qua một đêm ông đã lớn lên từ một đứa trẻ ba tuổi thành một người khổng lồ. Ông được tôn thờ vì đã bảo vệ đất nước khỏi những kẻ xâm lược nước ngoài - Giặc Ân.
Mặc dù lễ hội này được tổ chức từ ngày 6 đến ngày 12 của tháng 4 âm lịch, mọi người bắt đầu chuẩn bị quần áo truyền thống cho đám rước và cho các buổi biểu diễn lễ hội khác nhau một tháng trước đó. Trong lễ hội, cuộc diễu hành bắt đầu tại Đền Mẫu và đi đến đền Thượng, nơi mà diễn ra một buổi lễ tôn giáo. Khi đêm xuống, hát chèo được diễn ra. Sau đó, lễ hội kết thúc với một đám rước tạ ơn vào ngày 12.
Lễ hội này thể hiện tình yêu của chúng ta đối với quê hương và sự bảo tồn di sản văn hóa của chúng ta.

- I like the Hung King Temple Festival a lot. It is held in Phu Tho province from the 8th to 11th of the third lunar month every year. It commemorates and worships the Hung Kings who are the founders and also the first emperors of the nation. It’s impressive because there is a procession from the foot of Nghĩa Linh mountain to the High Temple on top of the mountain. While you are there, you can attend a ceremony of offering incense and specialities to the Hung Kings.
